I just checked on a 10.7.5 having the latest JDK 8:
- not possible to compile (problems with package com.apple.eawt)
- compiling the stuff with JDK 7 works and runs on Java 8 with no problems

Another Mac I use has 10.9.4 and I will check this too.

… but I doubt, that the problem has something to do with Java itself,
since it was reported initially with Java 6.

So I will stay with 10.7/10.9 and developing on JDK 7 until these problems have vanished.
The javac is advised anyway, to use Java 6 for source and target.
