RaiMan proposed the following answer:
Images or code containing images can only be copied using copy&paste
inside the Sikuli IDE.
If you do this outside the IDE:
- copy the code from one .py file to another
- copy the relevant image files from one .sikuli to the other
- take care, that the .py file has the same name as the .sikuli folder in both cases
- in the IDE close and reopen the script that got the pasted content
