[Bug 1412807] Re: Sikuli stopped running after successfully running for a month

-- 1. it is strongly recommended, to use a dedicated folder for the
SikuliX stuff (e.g. C:\Sikulix)

-- 2. purge the entries you have in the system path related to your
current SikuliX setup.

-- 3. run setup again

before trying to start the IDE again, in the registry delete the branch
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\org\sikuli
… and all branches below

… now try to start the IDE (preferably from command line) simply by being in the SikuliX folder using:
java -jar sikuli-ide.jar -d 3 -c

… and watch ;-)

BTW: .backup file endings are not produced by Sikuli

One more thing: I recommend to switch to version 1.1.0

Title:
Sikuli stopped running after successfully running for a month

Bug description:
  Version: Sikuli 1.0.1

  OS: Windows 8.1( 64-bit)

I have been using Sikuli for around a month without any failures. But suddenly today, when i tried to open the IDE from the cmd as i usually do, the Sikuli IDE didn't start up. The name yellow color box comes showing sikuli is about to start, and goes away without starting the Sikuli IDE. I tried restarting the computer twice, but no effect, Sikuli IDE didn't startup and you don't see any message in the cmd as well.
Then i tried looking at the sikuli jar files (which were saved in my downloads folder). Unlikely, all those files had an extension of .backup in them. It seems quite strange that those files' extension were changed or something else is the case.
I'm not sure whether its a bug or a behaviour of Sikuli.
