Re: [Question #265487]: Run Sikuli Script in a PC without monitor connected

Question #265487 on Sikuli changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/sikuli/+question/265487

    Status: Open => Answered

RaiMan proposed the following answer:
SikuliX (caused by the used Java features inside) cannot run on so
called headless machines.

This means: the respective Java features when asking the underlying,
active graphics system must get the impression, that some monitor is
available, that displays graphics output.

If you do not have a monitor attached, then there are different software
solutions (mostly based on X11) and some hardware solutions (I have e.g.
a piece that fits into the monitor adapter and behaves for the system
like a HDMI screen).

I never tested, what happens, if you start up the machine with a monitor
attached and then pull out the monitor cable (which would be comparable
to the mentioned switch solution).

... but this is always something to be tested in the concrete situation.

when starting SikuliX from command line with option -d 3, you get the
information about the monitors at startup.
