I'm working on sikuli 1.1.0.  I want sikuli to check internet connection before it proceeds. I'm using python to achieve this.
I saw many posts on internet, I tried them all but sikuli doesn't detects the internet connection. 

Code I'm using 

def internet_on():
    for timeout in [1,5,10,15]:
        try:
            response=urllib2.urlopen('http://173.194.36.81',timeout=timeout)
            popup("connected")
            return True
        except urllib2.URLError as err: pass
    return False
    popup("not connected")
internet_on();

where http://173.194.36.81 is the ip address google.com
