So why don't you use IntelliJ PyCharm CommunityEdition?

I have it working on my macOS 10.13

Since IntelliJ IDEA is mainly targeted at Java programming the setup for
Python projects is a bit more complex (I do not use it for Python
scripting, only for Java programming).
