I got further and this is what happened when running xfce4 and not Gnome:

I got this after doing "java -jar sikulix.jar -v" on Ubuntu using xfce4
as desktop. I am using a VNC to connect to a remote machine.

Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":1.0".
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: The BROWSE action is not supported on the current platform!

at java.desktop/java.awt.Desktop.browse(Desktop.java:524)
at org.sikuli.script.support.ExtensionManager.makeClassPath(ExtensionManager.java:126)

at org.sikuli.ide.Sikulix.main(Sikulix.java:13)

Java version:
openjdk version "11.0.5" 2019-10-15

It works on Gnome. Its just xfce4
