I am sorry, but I cannot test on macOS 10.14 (already on macOS 12).

There I tested with a 2.0.5 on Java 8 (supposing you are on Java 8) and
had no problems with IDE -> File -> Save dialogs.

May be it is a Java problem.
You should try with a latest Java OpenJDK 8 (AdoptOpenJDK or from Azul)
