Title:
Detect crashes and link to wiki then
Status in Simple Scan:
Triaged
Bug description:
Another proposal to get more useful behavior in case of problems:
Crashes could be detected and in case of a detected crash, the user
should be offered to be taken to the wiki:
[2] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ScanningHowTo
[3] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsScanners
I think by creating a lockfile on startup, that is deleted on (clean)
exit, checking for a stale lockfile should allow to detect crashes in
the previous run.
Crashes could probably detected with some kind of watchdog, but I
think that would be more complex to get working and more likely to
conflict with apport. Possibly one can directly use apport to display
the link, but apport is not enabled for all users.
