Title:
  Scanning documents for archival

Status in Simple Scan:
  New

Bug description:
I want to scan personal documents for archival, but I don't feel that
the current settings allow me to produce scans which are a good
compromise between file size & quality.

I have tried the text mode scan and while the images are probably good
for OCR, they do not reproduce graphics & non-black and white text
very well. And while photo mode scans look great, they take up too
  much space for archival purposes.

Of course, file size & quality requirements are subjective, so I will
include a few attachments to show the result I get from text mode, and
the result I want to achieve.

  What Simple scan gets me:
  Simple scan results
  text mode, 300dpi
  ss_text_300dpi.jpg

What I would like to achieve:
Image Scan! For Linux (Epson scanner software),
Black and White Document mode, 300dpi
  isfl_b&w_document_300dpi.jpg
