  ADF scan fails using saned on remote server

Bug description:
  scanner: HP 6300C with ADF

  what works:

  multi-page scan using ADF on Ubuntu Lucid.

  
  what fails:

  multi-page scan using ADF connecting to saned on Debian Lenny.  The
  first page scans and then the error "Failed to scan Unable to start
  scan" appears wtih "** (simple-scan:3347): WARNING **: Unable to start
  device: Invalid argument" in the terminal.

  This lines appears on success and failure: "** (simple-scan:3401): WARNING **: Unable to set front ADF source, please file a bug
  "
