[Bug 544108] Re: Offer to number/date filename if file already exists

With version 3.2.1-0ubuntu2 this already works quite good: you choose a
filename and addtional picture scans will get numbers appended. When
opening the scan dialog the first time you in deed still got presented
the default filename, but you can't simply overwrite it and typing a
different filename is easy enough.

Therefore i am closing it, please reopen if you still think it's a real
usability issue.

Title:
Offer to number/date filename if file already exists

Status in Simple Scan:
  Invalid
Status in “simple-scan” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: simple-scan

In offices scanning documents (in my experience) often boils down to:
  1. Scan document
  2. Save document as scan-###.jpg in order to archive it

Currently simple-scan always offers the filename "Scanned Document.jpg", even if it already exists.
Being able to automatically offer a sequential filename (e.g. if scan-001.jpg exists, offer scan002.jpg) would be greatly appreciated :)
