perhaps for the meantime a message "your networked scanner is not
listed? please edit /etc/sane.d/net.conf" might improve the situation...

  Add user interface to add/remove networked scanners

Bug description:
  It would be nice if simple-scan would offer a user interface to add
  and remove IP adresses of sane servers. Currently editing
  /etc/sane.d/net.conf is the only way I know how to do it. The average
  desktop user is not able to do that.
