Great that it's fixed now, but do you think this patch could be
cherrypicked for the current precise package?

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: simple-scan

  Simple scan does not show a progress bar when saving a large scan (for
  example, 10 pages) as a PDF. Instead, the UI just freezes. There needs
  to be some feedback to the user that something is happening.
