Thats right. When xsane starts it uses the full extent of the scanner
which is 29.77 cm. But when I set the extent to 27.99 which is right
value for a Letter (8.5/11") sheet, the ADF works fine. Seems that the
page setting in simple-scan has no effect.

  ADF doesn't detect pages correctly

  Triaged

Bug description:
  When using Simple Scan with my new HP ScanJet 5590, the pages are not
  detected correctly. And it causes the output to be produced with bad
  page breaks

  I can fix this by setting the bottom-y to 28.2 in Xsane but those
  options aren't present in simple-scan. Also changing the paper size
  does nothing. I am using letter paper in this case.

  I am attaching an ouput PDF where the problem is visible on page 2 and
  even more on page 3
