Title:
  save the raw images

Status in Simple Scan:
  New

Bug description:
What is the format of the raw images stored in ram? When I perform a
scan at 300ppi, my ram usage increases by ~30MB indicating that the
raw file is approximately ~30MB. One method of extracting the raw file
would be to extract the contents from ram which may be a quite
complicated procedure and then analysing them to obtain the RAW image.
Is there any simpler method of obtaining the raw data? Could you
provide some more information in regard to the aforementioned? I would
appreciate if you upload a sample raw image (and name a program that
can work with it [e.g. Gimp?] [optional] ).

I submit this a bug/request because if the raw image format is not one
of the uncompressed image formats available for saving the scanned
pages, then this request is to include the raw format as an option.
The advantage of this is that saving time will be reduced appreciably.
