Am running SimpleScan ver. 1.0.3 on Ubuntu 10.4

When I ...
scan a document, 
save it as a PDF, 
then email it to other people (on other systems)
... they can not read that PDF.

They are probably using Apple or Windows systems.

Any suggestions on what I can do (on my system) to fix this?
