Please provide the output of the following diagnostic commands (with the
device connected and switched on):

uname -a
lsb_release -crid
lsusb
sudo sane-find-scanner

According to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=980804 installing
the driver for Samsung SCX-4216F might help.
