Using WWAN with VGN-Z31WN
Hello list,
this is my first post to the list and I wanted to start with a short
pointer how to get wwan on the VGN-Z31WN working (without Windows):
The VGN-Z31WN has a Qualcomm Gobi USB chipset. Without firmware, it has
USB device /ID 05c6:9221. /Unfortunately this device needs a firmware to
be used as a modem. Follow the instructions at
http://www.codon.org.uk/~mjg59/gobi_loader/ to get it working.
The qserial kernel module is included in kernel 2.6.30; for previous
kernels you have to download and compile it manually. The firmware files
can be found at the Sony website (WWAN_DRIVER_OPTION_1.0.09_00.ZIP) .
Unzip the archive - you can find the files at
//WWAN_Driver_Option_1.0.09/72-VJ725-4_1.0.12/Source/Packages/. /Choose
the right version in one of the subdirs. For me in Germany, it was in
subdir 0.
I hope this helps.
