It does the same as in the 'old' fix.
I gave you some script lines to ensure that nothing would be done twice.

How do you switch from intel to nvidia and vice versa?
Did you use self made files in /etc/init.d/ ?
If yes? Look here: http://global-social.net/tiki-view_blog.php?blogId=3
that explains how the upstart way works. The /etc/init.d/ init-scripts
can not work anymore under karmic upstart.
I think, you do not have the right shared libs for intel which are:
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2
(Obtain this file from the package
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+package/libgl1-mesa-glx
and copy it to
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2.INTEL)
and
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(Obtain this file from the package xserver-xorg-core
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+package/xserver-xorg-core
and copy it to
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.INTEL)
The Rest is described in my blog on global-social.et
