Strange enough, I have a /etc/default/grub with
	GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=\"!Windows 2006\" nmi_watchdog=0"
and it ends up in the /boot/grub/grub.cfg as
	linux	/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-rc3 root=/dev/sda3 ro acpi_osi="!Windows 2006"
which is fine, and I don't have any problem.

This is Debian/sid with grub-pc 1.97~beta4-1.

One other question: Is KMS (Kernel Mode Setting) really necessary? I have
my system running without, why do you recommend it?

Same with UXA, in fact I not even know what it is ;-)

Best wishes

Norbert
