Message #00675
Maintainer script for openGL with speed-stamina switch environment.
Hello all,
I just wanted to inform you that the script
'update-gl'
meanwhile has its own update mechanism (It looks for available updates
for the script itself) and lots of little details are solved better and
more secure now:
* Test if you run as root.
* It is now possible to install (copy) the file at any place you
want and give it the name you want or call it with a symlink if
you like. The script will, in case an update is available,
update the file (and not the symlink)
* If you invoke the script with -q it will suppress as much echo
as possible and assume 'yes' for all possible questions (updates
etc).
* The opposite of -q (--quiet) is -v (--verbose) with more output.
Without any arguments, the echo is normal. (You'll see!)
* Bugfixes.
* etc.
On top of that Script I want to develop a growing auto
installation-/update-/test-mechanism to the speed-stamina switching (and
maybe more Vaio Z-Series special software/ solutions..).
To update to this Version use wget (change name or location of
local-file if you want but don't forget to remove the old one in that
case):
localfile=/etc/X11/update-gl
url=http://global-social.net/files/update-gl
sudo wget -O $localfile $url
In future the script will hint you if an update is available and you
only need to answer 'yes' (Enter) if you want to upgrade to it.
Regards,
Raphael
