you should add CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor 2.30.0 gnome applet
to control the freq of your cpu (take care 1 per logical core... i.e. 4)

apt-get install

 and then see if you are using "on demande" or "performance" ...

I give you as well an applet working only with core i-x
to show the real average freq of you processors (with Turbo boost)
