yes i have done it also on my vpcz11x9 (bios version R1180C3)
and using this trick you can suspend and hibernate perfectly :)
still waiting that ubuntu release the 2.36 (stable which not exist yet :) )
to have the intel gpu working.... i managed to make it working with a
2.35 but i had some problems .. id rather wait for the official release.
and the screen is still very bright :) and i cant change the luminosity.
