Re: Disabling intel graphics

Hi Xavier/Aleix/Anyone whos interested(!),

Thanks for this. Sorry for the delay but I've been having no end of
trouble getting this to work, because it seems to be a very specific set of
modules and configs which make it possible. Hopefully this will improve over
time, but for now we are where we are. I'm also running out of time to work on
it, so it won't be perfect by any means.

What I hope to end up with once I've tested everything is:

- You will be able to switch to "speed", select an old kernel from the boot
menu, and the machine will automatically boot then re-boot in to my kernel,
which will allow the proprietary NVidia drivers to run with only that card
enabled. Without booting the old kernel first there is no easy way to stop the
Intel card from stealing resources at boot and so the NVidia drivers don't
work. The Neoveau ones nearly work, but don't detect any outputs being
connected, so this may be fixed soon, but for now to use the NVidia card you
are stuck with this solution.

- In "speed" or "auto" mode, you should just be able to boot my kernel, and
everything will work with the Intel drivers ( i.e. no booting an old kernel
first. )

I could not get the Debian kernel to work, and so I am having to use the
normal Linux 2.6.35-rc6 without Debian patches, but that should be ok for this
- better to have a machine which doesn't eat the battery.

Hopefully I'll have something later today.

Adam.
