Re: new testing release of sony-laptop-zseries 0.9np8pre1

Dear Sony Vaio Z Listserv,

I have a sony Vaio VGN-Z590 with the nvidia 9300M GS.

I just installed Ubuntu natty 11.04 and I tried to follow the same method
(janitor script with ubuntu-x PPA for the latest drivers) I used to get
everything working in maverick 10.10 but it's not working now.

The kernel command windows 2006 appears to have no effect at all. The
speed/stamina light also seems to behave differently only lighting later
during boot and only the stamina light. If I boot in stamina it seems to
work but lspci seems to indicate the nvidia card is still running although
nvidia-settings reports it isn't.

Booting in speed mode either hangs or ends up in stamina mode.

I've used the latest nvidia drives from the ubuntu-x PPA. I've also tried to
get the latest kernel from the kernel PPA but this didn't appear to solve
anything.

I tried to build and install the latest sony-laptop 0.9np8pre1 but I don't
really know if that has had an effect.

Does anyone have any idea how to get things working again?

Thanks very much,
Lyle
