Re: Insufficient brightness levels with custom sony-laptop module :-(
Hi Wouter,
Thanks for your response. Sorry for bringing KDE into the picture. Now
let's drop it and look at the pure userspace level, if you don't mind :-)
So here's what I get:
*With nothing (blacklisted sony_laptop):
*No way to set brightness, as far as I know.
*With custom sony_laptop module:
*cat /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/sony/max_brightness => 8
Then I can echo the value 0-9 to
/sys/devices/virtual/backlight/sony/brightness
So I have 9 brightness levels.
*With original sony_laptop module (Kernel 3.2.6-gentoo):
*cat /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/sony/max_brightness => 247 !!!
Then I can echo the value 0-247 to
/sys/devices/virtual/backlight/sony/brightness
So I have 248 brightness levels!!!
See? There's a huge difference between the stock sony_laptop and the Vaio
Z improved one... Is there a way to fix this regression?
Best regards,
Joël
