Re: 1080p, Text Size and Scaling Questions
I have the 13" 1080p screen on mine. I do a LOT of coding (it's basically
ALL I do) on it.
Since getting the whole thing (including the PMD, which I assume you won't
buy) to work with linux/ubuntu has been very tedious so far, I have not
spent any actual linux-powered working hours on the machine.
This means I cannot report on the font scaling of linux, w.r.t. such a
small/high-res screen.
However: Despite being more or less stuck with windows, I love the form
factor, and for me It is working well. Half the coding hours I spend are on
the laptop alone, w/o external monitors or keyboards.
Yes, the pixels are tiny, and so are tool bars and fonts, but I don't think
that's a problem. You could even get some cheap drugstore reading glasses
that are strictly speaking not the right ones for you, but function as weak
binoculars for the distance between your eyes and the display.
When I have the machine hooked up to the PMD, a little further away on a
laptop stand, the pixels indeed become too tiny. The best workaround I
could find so far on windows is to use ultramon's display profiles to
automatically recognize my home monitor and trim the resolution down to
720p. Only because windows is not DPI-agnostic, like e.g. OS X.
