And what driver are you using?
I use x11-drivers/xf86-input-synaptics-1.6.2-r1 using the settings
suggested here: https://lists.launchpad.net/sony-vaio-z-series/msg02579.html

and this setting in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/51-clickpad.conf file

Section "InputClass"
       Identifier "Default clickpad buttons"
       MatchDriver "synaptics"
       Option "SoftButtonAreas" "50% 0 82% 0 0 0 0 0"

Are your settings different as well as the synaptic driver?
