Message #03040
Backlight keys in GNOME
If anyone's seen a problem where the backlight keys don't work properly
in GNOME (3.10 definitely affected, don't know about earlier) on a VPCZ1
(and probably other Zs, anything with fewer than 10 backlight steps is
affected) - the OSD pops up and looks like it moves between two values,
but won't move any further, and the brightness never changes - you're
probably hitting https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710380 .
It's fixed in GNOME master, I'm trying to get the fix backported to
3.10. You can rebuild mutter, gnome-desktop3, and gnome-settings-daemon
with the patches from git master to fix it, if you're that way inclined.
Or you can just use the brightness slider in the User menu (top-right),
which works.
With this fix, the reboot fix (which I just confirmed in the bug report,
so hopefully it'll get upstreamed soon), and sound working in 3.12, the
VPCZ1 is actually working really nicely with Fedora 20 (and
equivalently-up-to-date other distros, I expect).
