This is a known bug -
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=62251 . It's upstream, so
I'd be surprised if other distros aren't hitting it too, but I'm
guessing CentOS ships with abrt so you get graphical notifications,
which other distros may not give? You should be able to tell it to
ignore these, they're fairly harmless I believe.

There are various extra repos for EL7;
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL is a popular one for bringing Fedora
package builds to EL. Somewhat unfortunately (in my estimation) a
decision was made to build the EL7 repos from scratch, so if you
maintain a package with EL5 and EL6 branches you didn't get an EL7
branch automatically, you have to go and manually request one, so the
package set for EL7 is a bit smaller than the others ATM, but it will
grow. It doesn't look like Conky has ever been built for any EPEL
branch, though.

If you mostly liked CentOS, you could perhaps try Fedora. Fedora 20
seems to be a pretty well-liked release, and it runs well on my VPCZ11.
It has larger and more up-to-date repos. Of course it has a shorter
lifecycle and may be a bit less stable than EL, but it's not a big deal.

For the slow-reboot bug - try adding kernel parameter 'reboot=pci'. I
posted about this a while back, look for the post "Hang / long pause on
reboot" in the archives.
