This is most likely a problem in Windows, since Windows
chooses icons based on the extension of the filename.
(Like .txt) AFAIK Windows ONLY looks at the filename
when it decides the icon.
Of course, the filenames themselves might be wrong somehow.
Perhaps mangled case? Try looking at the option 'case
preservation' and the other case-related options in
smb.conf...
