Installing RedHat-6.1 on a DEC AS 200

Hi everyone!
I have been trying to install RedHat-6.1 on my DEC AS 200 4/166 for a while.
It doesn't hava a CD, so I'm installing over FTP.
I finaly got the installation program to run, and it looks fine, until it
asks for a root password, which I enter.
Then, nothing happens, for hours! 
(then I get tired and turn the damn thing off =( )
Whats wrong?
