Her er nogen ideer jeg fik om to nye distroer, til inspiration /Keld


Two ideas for distros:

Linux-lsb

Make a linux distro that builds on LSB, so that all packages are LSB compatible. 
Then all LSB-compliant distros can use the packages.

The distro should be long term stable
The distro should be security oriented - all apps compiled with security features such as
buffer overflow protection and execution permission - look at openbsd to get inspiration.

Sources could be taken from mandriva or pclinuxos
administration tools could be taken from mandriva/pclinuxo (mcc)

Upgrades of kernel could be done by uml or xen
no downtime!

three levels of stability: alpha, tested, and stable

Possibility to roll-back installed packages to earlier versions

Campagning to have different package providers as kde, gnome etc make their
packages available in lsb format.

provide tools for selecting sets of lsb package collections.

distro both oriented toward workstations and servers.
security set up well for workstations, most security but still very versatile
for single-user home use.

source media via net should be integrated, no configuring of it.
look at new mandriva package management and bittorrent.

Most things should work just out of the box.


windows-lsb

Same ideas but for the windows platform.
