Hej

Hvis formålet er at slette indholdet af harddisken kan dette gøres med 
dd (og være sikker på at det er væk).

$ dd if=/dev/urandom <http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki//dev/urandom> of=/dev/<disk> #fill drive with random bits
$ dd if=/dev/zero <http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/index.php?title=/dev/zero&action=edit> of=/dev/<disk>    #fill drive with all zeros
$ dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/<disk>     #fill drive with random bits again

Det er forøvrigt noget lign. det maxtor program gør.
