[Bug 705292] Re: [Dell E6410] docking station line out not working

Thanks for the verification.

I think this was fixed by the same commit in linux-backports-modules to fix the internal microphone:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/605047
This update is scheduled to be evaluated for a stable release update.

The current supported workaround is to use this linux-backports-modules
package on the systems that are affected.

Title:
[Dell E6410] docking station line out not working

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Line-Out in the Dell E6410 Docking Station is not working.

  Test cases:
  - no connectors - internal speakers play - ok
  - laptop line-out - headphones connected play; internal speakers muted - ok
  - docking station line-out - headphones dead silent; internal speakers muted - NOK
  - microphone - laptop connector - record when input device is Microphone 1 -ok
  - microphone - docking station connector - record when input device is
  Microphone 2 - ok

I thought that I need to change the output device to get the sound, but
apparently, output is only 'Analog Output' and 'Analog Headphones',
neither of which put sound to the docking station's line-out.

I have also tried a different docking station, so this is not a docking
  station problem.
