[Bug 919395] Re: Panda: only low resolution on 1080p plasma
Thorsten, you're issue is different..
[ 7.092803] omapdss error: timeout reading edid
[ 7.097656] Raw EDID:
[ 7.100067] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[ 7.106170] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[ 7.112274] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[ 7.118377] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[ 7.124450] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[ 7.130554] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[ 7.136688] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
[ 7.142791] 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
as I mentioned before, there can be one of two issues.. (1) there was a
hw change 4460 and (IIRC) 4430 es2.3 or later related to internal vs
external pull-ups for HDMI DDC. Some earlier ubuntu 11.10 kernels were
not properly recognizing the later es2.3 boards, leading to this sort of
symptom (not able to read EDID). If it is not this issue, then I
suppose it is possible that there is a hw issue with your board. Either
way, if sw can't read the EDID, no detection will work properly.

Title:
Panda: only low resolution on 1080p plasma
Status in Linaro Texas Instruments Landing Team:
Confirmed
Status in Linaro Ubuntu Evaluation Builds:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Installed the linarotv image 20120114-2 and hwpack_linaro-lt-panda-x11-base_20120106-1 on a Pandaboard ES with linaro-media-create.
After boot installed ubuntu-omap4-extras-multimedia.
Then did a dist-upgrade on Jan 21. 20:45CET
HDMI connected to a Yamaha RX-V1800 audio-video-receiver and from
there to a 1080p plasma TV.
The resulting screen resolution was only 720×576@50 and xbmc does not offer any further resolutions or refresh rates.
The EDID sent by the Yamaha AVR includes many resolutions up to 1080p (verified with SwitchResX on a MacBook).
Attached boot log with options omapdss.debug=1 drm.debug=7 and EDID
