Hi Nio, This is great news!! All I need to do is get Networking working again :DI am currently tidying up jwm-settings-manager a bit... It is a bit cumbersome going through the code, as I have learned a lot since originally creating it. But there are some issues that need to be addressed, and I am making it more compatible for non-ToriOS users (not requiring hardcoded programs in the default themes...)
Anyhow, I will boot the old HD later and rebuild things soon. On 03/22/2016 03:48 AM, Nio Wiklund wrote:
Hi again,After replying I found that the 'last but one' iso file dated March 16 was still not overwritten in my zsync directory, so I saved itmv ToriOS-daily.iso.zs-old ToriOS-epsilon.isoand used it for updating/upgrading. And this live system manages to install the PAE kernel :-)Best regards Nio Den 2016-03-22 kl. 08:59, skrev Nio Wiklund:Hi Israel, It is not easy to update/upgrade a system without a working network connection ;-) Please upload a new iso file :-) Best regards Nio Den 2016-03-22 kl. 02:24, skrev Israel:Hi Nio, I think this is now fully fixed :) The problem was rather small... you could update obi inside the LiveCD and try it to make sure it works well for you. I am working on fixing one of Ali's found bugs and I think it is nowfixed, but the jwm-settings-manager has to be rebuilt (the bug is in thenice-start script which comes with jwm-settings manager, though I might move it to the torios stuff at some point) On 03/21/2016 05:08 AM, Nio Wiklund wrote:Den 2016-03-21 kl. 08:19, skrev Nio Wiklund:Den 2016-03-20 kl. 21:52, skrev Israel:Hi Nio,First things I would like about this issue is the logfile for obi paeinstaller It should be located on the drive at: LOG="/home/$USERNAME/pae-kernel-install.log" i.e. ~/pae-kernel-install.log of the installed system. This will help me find out (round about) where the issue is. Unfortunately I have not time enough for a complete test. I want to make you aware of one bug, that hit me both at the basic and advanced OBI level: When I selected to install a PAE kernel, it was accepted (and also logged), but the operation was fast, and afterwards I found out, that the non-pae was there anyway. In other words, it does not really install anything. Maybe it is because the target drive is an SSD connected via USB. I can test to install into an internal drive too. Best regards Nio...Hi Israel, Here we go: 1. uname indicates what kernel is used: March-19@torios ~ $ uname -aLinux torios 3.2.0-101-generic #141-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 10 21:43:55 UTC2016 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux2. free indicates that not all RAM is used, which is a typical symptomof using a non-pae kernel (all 4 GB RAM cannot be used) March-19@torios ~ $ free -mtotal used free shared buffers cachedMem: 2666 237 2429 0 19 131 -/+ buffers/cache: 87 2579 Swap: 4838 0 4838 3. Here is the log file: March-19@torios ~ $ cat pae-kernel-install.log 2016-03-19Kernel version in installed base is #141-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 10 21:43:55UTC 2016 Using Debian LTS mounted all the temporary things for this chroot successfully not sure what You are using.... Must abort remove /sbin/initctl dpkg-divert --rename --remove /sbin/initctl rm /etc/resolv.conf unmounted all the temporary things for the chroot successfully March-19@torios ~ $ *. Guessing only: Maybe there is confusion, because in the 3.2 kernel series the generic kernel is non-pae and the pae kernel is labeledgeneric-pae, but in the 3.16 series of Debian Jessie, the pae kernel islabeled generic. Best regards NioHi again Israel, I tried with a previous version of ToriOS-precise. The downloaded iso file is dated Nov 21 and I treated it with isohybrid (to boot a cloned image from USB). This file is dated Nov 22, and it can install the pae kernel, as you can see from the following terminal window dialogue: delta-nov22-hybrid@torios ~ $ uname -a Linux torios 3.2.0-101-generic-pae #141-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 10 22:11:18 UTC 2016 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux delta-nov22-hybrid@torios ~ $ free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 3905 351 3554 0 106 148 -/+ buffers/cache: 95 3809 Swap: 4838 0 4838 delta-nov22-hybrid@torios ~ $ l pae* ls: cannot access pae*: No such file or directory delta-nov22-hybrid@torios ~ $ l /boot abi-3.2.0-101-generic-pae initrd.img-3.2.0-101-generic-pae System.map-3.2.0-94-generic abi-3.2.0-94-generic initrd.img-3.2.0-94-generic vmlinuz-3.2.0-101-generic-pae config-3.2.0-101-generic-pae memtest86+.bin vmlinuz-3.2.0-94-generic config-3.2.0-94-generic memtest86+_multiboot.bin grub/ System.map-3.2.0-101-generic-pae delta-nov22-hybrid@torios ~ $ Best regards Nio
