Hi Jack,
I built a Xenial based 64bit ISO and it seems to work fine.  However I
have not been able to connect to Phill's server... though I will try
again.  If that wont work I'll find some other online spot to host it.

I have not worked out what went wrong with the Jessie ISO, though.

I did find and fix a few bugs in the menu program as well as a graphical
menu (similar to whisker menu) I made called fltk-dash.
You can try it out if you want (sudo apt install fltk-dash).  It doesn't
have many features and is slow to load, but it works really well.  The
search bar looks at names, keywords, and mime types in order to search. 
The searching is pretty fast, but the initial loading is pretty slow....
that is something I need to address at some point.  But it is just a
program I made to try to make it.
