Hi Israel and Paul,
scrot '%Y-%m-%d_%H-%M-%S_$wx$h.png'
will specify additional hour-minute-second info in the file name. I
don't know if you have specified anything explicit or if Julien has done
that in Lubuntu, but it should be possible to change the default with a
small shell-script file in PATH before or instead of what is there now.

Maybe you can write the screendump to a temporary file, show it or show
a thumbnail (which is an option according to 'man scrot') and let the
user select name etc. via Zenity. It should be possible.
