Given that you have a "Richland" APU, this might be fixed by the BAPM
(Balanced Average Power Management) support which has been added to the
upstream 3.16 kernel.

A PPA of the 3.16-rc4 kernel can be found at http://kernel.ubuntu.com
/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and instructions on how to install and uninstall
it are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

Title:
  Desktop hung

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  The desktop seems to be hung on displaying an old screenshot unity bar mostly blured out and does not show running processes.
   I cannot seem to be able to kill it  no process is working the CPU.
  Couple of reboots no help.
   Not sure what is going on whether it's a display problem or other.
   Tried killall wallch: no joy.
  Fresh install of 14.04 about 1 month old all up to date.
