Apparently the Friends project is going to be deprecated.

Status in “friends” package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Friends now have support for quite a few new social networks like
  Instagram, Foursquare. It would be great to have tumblr too.

  Tumblr is originally considered as micro blogging platform & api can
  be found here:

  And there is a python library on github:
  https://github.com/tumblr/pytumblr
