[Bug 1150151] Re: [SIDESTAGE] should be available on 5.5"+ screens
This is currently under design. We in design team don't think we should
have any fixed width or screen size to limit side stage usage. In
principle it should be available no matter what is the form factor. But
how the limit is currently implemented is fine for now.

Title:
[SIDESTAGE] should be available on 5.5"+ screens
Status in Ubuntu UX bugs:

Status in The Unity 8 shell:

Status in “unity8” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
With the current display framework the sidestage appear only when
GU_count >= 60 and occupies 40 GU. This means that on a 7" tablet we
should see a sidestage. However, a sidestage on an N7 is suboptimal as
even in landscape the visible area of the main stage is about half of
the sidestage width, and in portrait, when the sidestage is in overlay
it will completely obscure the main stage.
----------------------------------------------------
Desired behaviour
The threshold for sidestage should be GU_count >= 80. This means that
of the supported devices sidestage will be enabled only on the nexus
10.
