thank you for your bug report, what's the output of "dpkg -l | grep
libxpathselect" on your installation? do you have any local version
installed that could take over the system one?

   Unable to load entry point in libxpathselect

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Hello

  When restarting unity I get this error message and it looks like it's
  related to lightdm. At the moment I cannot select my windows at all
  and can only use the command line :(

  ERROR 2014-07-20 13:19:20 unity.debug.interface
  DebugDBusInterface.cpp:216 Unable to load entry point in
  libxpathselect: libxpathselect.so.1.4: cannot open shared object file:
  No such file or directory

  I did a very recent apt-get update && apt-get upgrade with the latest
  Ubuntu 14 kernel/
