Title:
unity and gnome-panel are started on login on ubuntu Desktop edition
Status in Unity:
Fix Released
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Binary package hint: unity
Both unity and gnome-panel are run at the same time during an ubuntu
desktop session whereas this choice in the login windows is supposed
to enable the user to choose between the gnome-panel (ubuntu classic
desktop) and unity (Ubuntu desktop edition).
On my computer, the gnome-panel is not listed in the startup
application menu but it is still launching on startup, even though it
is usually under the unity panel, it can also be over it (see
screenshot). Please note that issuing a pkill gnome-panel through the
terminal shuts down the gnome-panel for 1 or 2 seconds, but it
reapears directly after that.
Also, when the gnome-panel is under the untiy panel (thus invisible)
one can still decipher its presence through the workspace-switcher
(from the unity panel) (it appears on the top of the workspace label,
see screenshot-1)
