  suggestions are half shown while typing in application menu

Bug description:
  machine: HP 6710B (laptop)
  4 gig memory
  ubuntu 12.04 beta 2, with latest updates till this morning.

  use case:
  - open HUD search menu by tapping the alt key
  - type the name your looking for: werwerwerwerwer

  Expected behavior:
  while typing, the suggestions are fully shown below the textfield.

  Current behavior
  While typing a name in the search field the suggestions are shown in half. (See both screenshots).

  Extra information
  - Every part of the os is very fast and snappy, so this problem is not due to a slow system performance.
  - screenshots included to show the expected en unexpected behavior.
  - This bug is not blocking, just not a great look or feel.
