Title:
Dash does not fit on lower resolution monitors

Status in Unity:
  Confirmed
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I have a netbook (Asus eeePC 701 4G with a 7" display and a resolution
  of 800x480 pixel).

The Dash does not fit on the screen. It is simply too big, impossible
to reach the right side of it, horizontal scrolling is not supported,
ALT + left mousebutton also does not work, inconsistent to all other
  gnome apps.

It should be easy to calculate the size of the icons, and its position
relative to the screen-size, this should not be too difficult and this
is nothing new. (With compiz this should be an easy task)

In the past Unity has been designed for small netbooks and the global
menu saves space, yes, good thing, but if i cannot use Unity on
nebooks, cause the dash ist too big this is a bit frustrating, because
theese small machines are not too slowly. It is only the size of the
dash what makes trouble! All the other things works perfect...

Please think about this. This is a great regression for me against the
  old Ubuntu-Netbook-Edition.
