  keyboard not displayed after returning to app from shell

Bug description:
  seeing this in build 160

  - open messaging-app
  - open a message and click in send field to display keyboard
  - left edge swipe to return to shell
  - click on messaging-app in Apps scope

  Expected result:
  - messaging-app displayed with keyboard visible

  Actual result:
  - messaging-app shown with blank area where keyboard used to be (see screenshot)
