[Bug 1494468] [NEW] wily cloud images too fat

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

something recently made cloud images get super fat.
I first noticed this on 2015-09-04.

Odd_bloke took an initial look and found :

09/04/15 14:30:00 <Odd_Bloke> smoser: Looks like libdpkg-perl recommends libfile-fcntllock-perl which recommends a compiler.
09/04/15 14:30:13 <Odd_Bloke> So we're pulling in gcc
09/04/15 14:30:22 <Odd_Bloke> That seems a little unnecessary. :p
09/04/15 14:30:43 <smoser> why libdpkg-perl ?
09/04/15 14:30:51 <smoser> is that a new recommends
09/04/15 14:31:00 <Odd_Bloke> dh-python Depends libdpkg-perl
09/04/15 14:32:47 <Odd_Bloke> - fix parsing Build-Depends with comments (closes: 793609, thanks to James
09/04/15 14:32:50 <Odd_Bloke> McCoy for the patch) - new build/runtime dependency: libdpkg-perl
09/04/15 14:32:55 <Odd_Bloke> That's in dh-python's changelog.

Not sure why dh-python is in either though.

The beta-1 images (http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/releases/15.10/beta-1/) for amd64 is 276M (disk1.img).
The current dailiy (20150907) http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/daily/server/wily/20150907/ is 392M.

So somewhere between 20150825 and 20150904 we grew by a lot.

** Affects: dh-python (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Critical
         Status: Confirmed
