[Bug 1495871] [NEW] unity8 leaks file descriptors

Public bug reported:

unity8 leaks file descriptors in various cases, causing the process to
eventually fail (hang and/or restart). These leaks were first discovered
during investigations of https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-
system-image/+bug/1491566 , but it's not clear yet if they are indeed
responsible for that particular bug. In any case, this is a critical
problem, and should be addressed independently.

The fds are leaked in various scenarios, including:

* opening/closing apps
* switching between apps
* locking the screen

** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Critical
         Status: Confirmed
